The B'nai B'rith Apartments in Allentown, PA located at 1616-1622 W.
Liberty St.
in Allentown, PA have 270 apartments providing housing for elderly persons over 62 years of age and persons with a mobility impairment who are over the age of 18 and require the special features of a wheelchair accessible apartment.
Tenants live in their own apartments in an independent manner.
The tenant rents are subsidized by the Federal Government through the Section 8 rental subsidy program of the U.
S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Tenants pay 30% of their adjusted gross income for rent.
The maintenance staff of five people, who work as a team, are responsible for maintaining all areas of the buildings and grounds in addition to the apartments.
We try at all times to do as much of the needed work with our in-house staff as possible.

JOB REQUIREMENTS Applicants must have AT LEAST 2 years' experience in the building and apartment maintenance duties as described below! Ability to make general repairs in the fields of HVAC, electricity, and plumbing, light carpentry, drywall.
Repair, patch, sanding and painting of drywall.
Read and learn about the various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in the buildings.
This person must be comfortable with heights as much of the equipment is located on the rooftops of the high-rise buildings.
Involved in maintaining the grounds and doing any work needed to keep the property safe and in top condition such as mowing grass, trimming shrubs, cutting and pulling weeds, pressure washing and shoveling snow etc.
This person will be listed on the emergency call list for the alarm monitoring company and for the answering service and will be expected to report to the building within approximately 20 -25 minutes after receiving a call.
Assist with moving trash compactors as needed, and in maintaining, cleaning and repairing trash containers, trash chutes and trash rooms.
Assist with set up and breakdown of common areas for the various ongoing activities.
They will be responsible for becoming familiar with all of the emergency procedures of the buildings and be able to properly react in the event of an emergency.
The person must have a valid driver's license and current insurance.
They must also have a reliable vehicle because they will often have to report to work at unscheduled times and sometimes with only a few minutes notice or in extreme weather conditions.

within approximately 20 - 25 minutes after receiving a call.
The person in this position will be expected to be available to report for after hour emergencies as needed and will on a rotating basis serve in an on call status for emergencies and lockouts approximately 3-4 weekends a year when the live-in maintenance persons are not available.
In addition, during the months that the maintenance assistant is on call, they will also need to be available as additional assistance for the live-in staff.
They will share emergency coverage on the weeks that the live in maintenance staff is on vacation.
This person will also need to be available on a rotating basis for Saturday move-ins, after hour's contractor work and unexpected delays in contractors completing projects during a regular workday.
The employee will be required to report to work as needed during snowstorms, ice storms, etc.
to insure that all public areas of the grounds are kept safe for pedestrian traffic.
This also includes cleaning behind and around tenant cars and all areas of our parking lots that are not cleared by our snow removal subcontractor.
Severe weather conditions may include work hours that may be after their normal work schedule such as evenings, weekends or early morning.
The employee must understand that some maintenance tasks occasionally involve unforeseen problems which may result in the employee having to work past their regular work hours (without advance notice) to complete the job so that the building is not left in a deficient condition and/or a tenant is not left inconvenienced.
This employee may be called in after regular working hours whenever a problem exists at the building that requires additional assistance.
PLEASE NOTE:
THIS IS A 100% SMOKE FREE BUILDING! No smoking is allowed anywhere within the buildings or within 50 feet of any windows or doors.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS The person in this position must have excellent and clear speaking skills as they will be talking with and explaining information to tenants, staff, contractors, etc.
They should have good written communication skills.
COMPUTER SKILLS Basic computer skills a plus.
