General Music Teacher Responsibilities and Duties Preparation and Planning ? Teaches skills in music understanding, appreciation, harmony and exploration in music.
? Plans and executes a balanced music program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
? Encourages students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible.
? Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.
? Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.
? Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
? Develops goals that incorporate a variety of cultural influences and elements from traditional and contemporary styles of music to engage all students.
? Exhibits an in-depth and thorough awareness of resources, materials and technology available through the school and professional organizations.
? Collaborates with the Music Department to design instruction that includes a sequential balance of content and skills for students of all ability levels from kindergarten through fifth grade.

? Motivates participation of all students, regardless of talent, experience or perceived ability.
? Demonstrates appropriate and highly respectful interactions between teacher and students and among students.

Instruction ? Clearly and appropriately communicates music objectives.
? Creates a high level of student engagement in learning and pacing of music instruction.
? Provides equitable, accurate and constructive feedback to students on their learning.
? Evaluates students' musical growth, performance, and musical understanding.
? Monitors and reports student progress using performance-based assessments.
? Displays a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness in meeting the learning needs of students.
? Designs instruction and activities that are inclusive for students of all art abilities.

Principal Job Qualifications ? Bachelor's Degree in Music Education (Pre-K-12) required.
? Valid PA Music Teacher Certification required.
? Experience teaching visual arts to elementary-aged students is preferred.
? Experience teaching or working with students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
This is a Full-Time, 10 month position offering a comprehensive benefit package including Medical, Dental, and Vision.
Salary:
$44,000 w/Bachelor's Degree; $46,000 w/Master's Degree Professional references are required.
