This Operations Manager I position is part of a resource team responsible the implementation of new business start-ups across the country. This position requires 75% travel for a period of 6 months across various states.  Once start-ups are complete, this position will be located in the Allentown/Philadelphia, PA region.


The Operations Manager I provides support to home delivery services for a designated market/ region. Position is responsible for managing daily operations of their assigned facility and assigned motor carriers.  This Operations Manager I position is also responsible for assisting in the training of new clients during new business start-up.



  • Manager Motor Carriers operating 6 days per week in multiple locations, assisting in route planning and route monitoring for current day region of deliveries.

  • Pre-screen contract carriers from incoming applicant database for contract eligibility based on DOT standards and company policy.

  • Build relationships with customers to ensure continued operating improvements

  • Work with national sales team on pricing, competitive advantages and disadvantages to facilitate new avenues of growth.

  • Manage expense accurately and meet P&L budget goals.



  • Minimum Required Education: Associate€™s degree in a business related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum Required Experience: 2+ years logistics management experience; new business start-up experience

  • Desirable Education/Experience: Bachelor€™s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management and 1-3 CR1  years of logistics or transportation experience

  • Basic Computer Skills  €“

    • Strong Fluency user of Windows applications and Microsoft Office programs such as MS Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    • Quickly learns and achieves proficiency in new software applications as needed.

  • Other Technical / Computer Skills -

    • Thorough knowledge of internal company software applications applicable to position/business unit.




Hours of Work/Travel

  • Extended hours including weekends.

  • Hours cover early mornings, evenings and weekends

  • Local travel between branches required weekly

  • 75% travel for the first 6 months across various states


Physical Activity

Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

  CR1 Desirable experience should be more than the required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
