Director, Facilities

The position has overall responsibility for managing the two facilities at Allentown, totaling 600,000 square feet. This includes ensuring the reliability, availability, and support of building services and facility services, including the overseeing of contracted services for catering, cleaning, and security. You will lead the team in areas of facility planning, and construction, preventative maintenance, facility repair, calibration and environmental services, health & safety. On a day to day basis, this will be achieved through management, coaching, and development of the team, along with the introduction of appropriate technology and working practices. The activities will be carried out in accordance with current statutory, regulatory, and company safety and quality standards.
Success in this aspect of the role will be demonstrated through key Performance Indicators for availability and performance, safe and quality delivery of compliant solutions, development of a capable and competent team, and growing profitability.
Responsibilities:
Quality:
To implement, maintain, and measure within the function, a framework for compliance and ongoing improvement in quality performance and "right the first time" culture. This will be in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and company standards, procedures, and systems regarding relevant cGMP and quality systems in the workplace.
Manage all activities and all projects in conjunction with local change control procedures.
Customer Allegiance:
To ensure the availability and reliability of utilities and facility services in order for the site to successfully achieve the plans necessary to satisfy customer requirements.
May require weekends or off-shifts work to support project and shutdown activities.
Team:
To manage the site maintenance team responsible for facility systems, site utilities, and production equipment.
Critical to this position is a planned effort to increase operational effectiveness of all support systems and equipment.
Manage, coach, and develop an effective and motivated team to meet department and business objectives.
Plan and use the training budget effectively, to contribute to the growth and development of the team, thus increasing their overall performance and contribution to the business.
Apply company HR policies consistently throughout the area of directorial responsibility.
Improvement & Efficiency:
Identify and implement technology based and working practice solutions designed to reduce the overall cost per unit measures.
Lead, participate, and contribute to practical process Improvement (PPI) projects that deliver business objectives in a cost effective manner.
Coordinate and manage any facility projects as required.
Fiscal:
Document, bid, and award bids in areas of office construction, furniture, janitorial contracts, maintenance contracts, carpeting, voice/data cabling, equipment replacement/installation, construction, space planning, security systems, security guard contracts, landscaping, vending, etc?
Prepare and manage annual departmental budget within established guidelines.
Develop and manage capital budget related to core areas of responsibility.
Principal Contacts
Internal:
Quality Assurance and Validation ? Maintain equipment and systems within specs, and ensure processes are within compliance.
Production and Warehousing ? Maintenance and innovation
Planning ? agreement of access to equipment that may affect output
Engineering ? Interaction and handover of new equipment and processes
Human Resources ? EHS, recruitment, training, and changes to terms and conditions
Project Managers ? Liaise with the team to ensure cohesive work on relevant projects
External:
Contract service providers
Clients ? Quality audits and site tours
Equipment suppliers ? specification of requirements and handover
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Bachelor degree in Engineering, Science or Business required with 10+ years experience in building and production equipment management
Proven experience in equipment and system downtime improvements required
Preventative/predictive maintenance and calibration experience required
Experience using LEAN management techniques required
Essential Skills / Experience:
Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
Good standard of English (verbal & written)
Management experience
Good understanding of GMP environment
Experience with computerized maintenance systems
Previous experience in biopharmaceutical or food operation
Controlled environment storage and distribution operations
Technical background in engineering/space planning, building operations systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, wiring, etc?)
Excellent analytical and negotiation skills required in awarding vendor contracts.
Computer experience and functional knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.

Don't Be Fooled

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
