Your daily work will not only be to move trailers throughout XPO Logistics€™ property, but to also be involved in unloading and loading the freight as well.

The HDT Student will work as a dock worker for a minimum of 30 days prior to the start of classroom training. Upon completion of the 5 week Hostler Training program, you will begin serving our customers along with yourself. As a Hostler Trainee, you will gain skills that will prepare you for the opportunity to become a Professional Class A CDL Driver for XPO Logistics. Essential Functions:

  • Perform daily vehicle inspections

  • Safely operate heavy equipment: move, position and connect/disconnect a converter dolly with an average weight/ pull force of approximately 128lbs.

  • Sit for extended periods of time in a Hostler/Tractor and/or forklift.

  • Operate Hostler in all types of weather, and safely walk, stand for extended periods of time on a loading dock/yard or various surfaces that are not climate controlled and may be slippery.

  • Effectively communicate with service center personnel; fast paced and deadline oriented.

  • Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment as needed.

  • Utilize mobile hand held devices for tracking shipments

  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.

  • Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights (up to 50lbs frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally).

  • Handle hazardous materials.

  • Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Prompt, daily attendance at assigned work location.


 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Maintain a valid driver€™s license

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Pass DOT physical

  • Pass a company paid Post Offer pre-Hire Screen

  • Perform essential functions with or without accommodations

  • Clean MVR (motor vehicle record)

  • Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

  • Prior dock/warehouse experience in the transportation industry is preferred

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
