Incumbent typically directs the work of subordinate employees at the organizational unit level. Work usually includes routine project/program tasks based on established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Managerial duties typically affect employees in one organizational.unit, and include:
setting priorities; assigning tasks; monitoring and evaluating performance; coaching and developing employee capabilities; approving leave; and taking or recommending corrective/disciplinary action, as appropriate. Uses assigned budget, staff, and other resources to accomplish project/program objectives. Manages budget and requests additional resources, as needed. Contributes to budget planning process and projects short-term future needs. Applies a comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, a detailed knowledge of budget, human resource, and other administrative policies and procedures, and a detailed understanding of the objectives of the organizational unit. Contacts are primarily within the organizational unit/major subdivision with subordinates, peers, and higher-level managers to discuss the status of projects/programs and to share information. In some areas, may also have frequent contact with customers to explain policies, procedures or for other project/program purposes. Work is typically governed by established guidelines, policies, and procedures. Resolves routine problems independently, but consults with higher-level management when existing guidelines are not available or applicable to complex problems. May be called upon to assist in developing new policies and procedures. Individual and organizational performance is typically reviewed periodically by higher-level management, often through status reports and organizational performance measures, to ensure timeliness, policy compliance, and alignment with project/program objectives. Work activities typically impact directly on the objectives of the organizational unit. Serves as the Supervisor, with overall authority for administrative and technical direction of the geographic program, the operations and/or airworthiness certificate management, and aviation services programs conducted by personnel assigned to the unit team. The supervisor identifies fiscal, technical and human resource requirements, coordinates and establishes program priorities, and obtains and manages resources to assure the timely implementation of aviation safety policies and regulations. Examines certificate management and geographic surveillance programs conducted by aviation safety inspectors to ascertain the degree of coordination between their respective activities. Includes coverage of aviation activities within their area of responsibility; national and international operations of those organizations and designated agency representatives assigned to the FSDO. Directs inspectors to make changes in staffing or program emphasis necessary to accomplish an integrated operational program; meeting the broad framework of Washington and national/regional office policies and program objectives. Assures the successful implementation of the programs assigned to the unit/team extends beyond regional boundaries and impact the efficiency and safety of both domestic and international air carriers. Provides first level review of administrative and technical work performed by all personnel assigned to the unit/team. Performance of these subordinates is judged in terms of accomplishment of previously established Agency objectives. Assists the Office Manager/Assistant Office Manager in the formulation of the annual district office budget. Determines current and future staffing needs necessary to accomplish the programs for the unit/team. Determines administrative and technical training needed for all personnel assigned to the unit/team. Provides all recommendations to the Office Manager/Assistant Office Manager. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
