Vehicle Description 1952 JAGUAR XK120 ROADSTER The Jaguar XK120 was renowned for its claimed top speed of 120 mph, which was proved correct when an essentially standard car managed to average 132.
6 miles per hour on a closed highway in Belgium in 1949.
When the XK120 was launched at London's Earls Court Motor Show in 1948, it burst onto the scene in the midst of post-war austerity in Britain and caused a major stir.
Originally intended as a low-volume super car, the stylish body was made from lightweight aluminum, but as demand began to skyrocket, it had to be re-tooled with more affordable yet heavier steel.
The steel body allowed Jaguar to produce more cars with better quality control and affordability, with little effect on the car's weight and performance - though the doors, bonnet and boot skin were maintained in aluminum.
The XK-120 boasted a 3.
4-liter engine with a powerful 160 horsepower, making it a standout of its time.
Its robust ladder-type chassis featured independent front suspension using torsion bars, as well as semi-elliptic springs and a live axle at the rear.
Hydraulic drum brakes were featured at all four corners, and steering was operated by a recirculating ball.
This stunning vehicle design featured a unique grille, delicate bumpers, and sweeping fenders, garnering immense admiration when it first debuted at auto shows.
Production of the XK120 continued until mid-1954, and a total of more than 12,000 were built.
RB Collection is proud to offer this left-hand-drive open two-seat roadster produced in May 1952, according to Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate showing that this US-spec car was originally delivered to Los Angeles, via the West Coast distributor, Hornburg, and was finished in Cream paint color and Biscuit and Red trim color.
This chassis #672231 was meticulously restored in 1991 by Mike Wilson's restoration in Visalia, CA.
The frame-off restoration was performed with careful attention to original specifications including the quality of the materials and the correct date of the parts.
The superior quality of this restoration is proven by its show history, scoring 99.
70 points at the Jaguar Club of Los Angeles Concours in July 1991 and 99.
85 points at JCNA.
Other awards include winning the 1991 best of class at the Greater Valley Concours in Fresno CA, best Jaguar in class Sacramento, best sports car Fresno (SCCA judging), and best in class Western States 1992.
While the restoration is not fresh, this stunning XK120 is the perfect companion for rallies and driving events, boasting an enticing cream paint finish that is as beautiful as it is consistent.
The chrome and brightwork are still intact with the red leather interior in excellent condition.
Nestled under the bonnet is an authentically period-correct 3.
4-litre XK120 inline-six engine, which runs with considerable strength and has been serviced and cared for over the years.
Lastly, the accompanying Fawn top completes this impressive package, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to condition and preservation.
This crisp XK120 is an exquisite example of a well-cared for classic.
Included with this Jaguar are an owner's manual, complete set of tools, jack, tire inflate, car wind shield, and car cover.
This model is a pleasure to take out for a drive, presenting a wonderful opportunity for the classic car enthusiast to enjoy its beauty and reliability.
