Vehicle Description Since 1958, Chevrolet's range-topping passenger car has been the Impala.
Originally a trim level for the Bel Air, the Impala became a standalone model in 1959 with coupe, convertible, sedan, and wagon body styles available to suit buyer's needs.
The horizontal fins were an iconic signature of the 1959 Impala, but by 1961, the era of the tail fin had passed, and the Impala began to evolve into a new and sophisticated style.
The new body styling was trimmer and boxier than the 1958-1960 models and a Super Sport (SS) option debuted for 1961.
RB Collection is pleased to offer this attractive 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS 2-door convertible.
This example is a desirable model, equipped with the iconic 409 horsepower, 409 big block engine and floor-shift 4-speed manual transmission.
This vehicle was bought by the previous owner in 1966 and was originally equipped with the 409-engine, prior to being replaced with another 409 engine, specifically a 1962 (Q code) - 409 HP.
The car was the beneficiary of upgrades and restoration for keeping the race-style intact, including the front hook, valve covers, suspension, fuel lines, brake tubing, rear springs, carburetor, spark plugs, manifold studs, exhausts, top pump seal, starter, transistorized ignition, shifter, fuel pump, and air cleaners.
This Impala is additionally equipped with posi-traction, limited slip rear end.
The Fawn Beige paint is almost all original except in the trunk, presenting in good condition with small retouches and details to be mentioned.
Exterior trim and bright work are all in exceptionally good order with excellent chrome bumpers and bright body trim.
The original Fawn leather interior complements the exterior extremely well and displays only a slight tear over the driver seat.
The vehicle door, quarter panels, dash and top all present themselves in pristine condition.
The 409 engine runs smoothly, while showcasing its unique power.
The chassis and undercarriage are in incredibly good order as well; clean, tidy, and solid with no corrosion.
This example is a real joy to drive, suitable for casual show and cruise nights.
It has seen limited use in the last decade.
Our in-house experts have thoroughly inspected the vehicle in preparation for daily enjoyment.
