Vehicle Description 1966 JAGUAR E-TYPE 4.
2L FIXED-HEAD COUPE The E-type Jaguar is the most significant British sports car of the post-war years.
Derived from the Le Mans winning D-type, it was also the fastest road-going Jaguar of its day and the firm's most successful two-seater.
Not only was the car competitively priced but, above all, the E-type could only be a Jaguar, such was the sheer beauty and assurance of its unique lines.
The E-type was a head turner when it was new, and it still is today.
Announced at the 1961 Geneva Show, the E-type brought together the best elements from its ancestors, cloaked in the legendary coachwork designed by Malcon Sayer and, of course, inspired by Sir William Lyons.
The shape, expressing both feline and masculine character, was not only style but calculated mathematically by Sayer for aerodynamic efficiency.
Initially equipped with a 3.
8L engine, after three years of production, Jaguar was ready to upgrade and improve the E-type.
1965 brought no new model per se; there were virtually no major styling changes, and the same coupe and roadster comprise the line-up.
The major changes were mechanical, centering primarily around a larger version of the now-venerable XK powerplant with a 4.
2L engine, a new transmission, and some upgrading in the electrical system.
The new engine, dubbed the 4.
2, was actually 4235 cc, or 258 ci.
RB Collection is proud to offer this all matching and very original 1966 Jaguar E-type Fixed-Head Coupe series 1 - chassis 1E32922 - with its original configuration of Dark Blue paint over a Dark Blue leather interior and equipped with the new all-synchromesh gearbox - four speed.
This exquisite Jaguar E-Type runs and drives beautifully and had the same ownership for more than 22 years, a reputable Jaguar judge.
During his ownership, and less than 17,000 miles ago, the engine and transmission were redone with all invoices available.
The sale of the vehicle includes a Jaguar Heritage Certificate; set of tools, including case, hammer, grease gun, jack; and Jaguar operating, maintenance, and service handbook.
This 1966 Jaguar E-Type is presented in outstanding condition, having been meticulously maintained since its original purchase and preserving all of its original features, including the rubber around both chrome bumpers and Dogbone tread design tires.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a wonderful example of one of the most significant, groundbreaking designs of the 20th century.
